Why do babies have sore bottoms?

Hardly any baby gets through diaper time without skin irritation. Especially in the diaper area, the sensitive baby skin is particularly stressed by the aggressive diaper climate with urine and stool. Even regular diaper changes and proper care do not always prevent a sore bottom. 

Skin irritations can occur especially if your baby is teething, suffering from an infection or reacting to new foods.

How can I prevent a sore bottom?

In addition to proper care, it is especially important to keep the skin dry:

• Change diapers frequently - dry diapers can prevent skin irritation.
• After cleaning the intimate area, always dry (let dry) baby's skin thoroughly, especially in the folds, so nothing gets sore. Gently dab - do not rub.
• As often as possible, let baby romp without a diaper (keep the room well warm) so that air can get to the bottom and the skin can breathe. Your baby will enjoy it.

Diaper changes and care:

• The diaper area can be creamed as a preventive measure so that urine and stool do not attack the skin. Nourishing creams with zinc are ideal to additionally protect the skin from moisture. (e.g. HiPP Nourishing Wound Protection Cream)
• The right choice of diaper: use disposable diapers that have a good absorbent core. An absorbent gel absorbs urine and keeps skin dry between diaper changes.
• The diaper should not be too tight. If there is room for a finger between the belly and the diaper, the diaper fits perfectly.

In addition, zinc oxide helps redness to subside. The cover protects irritated skin from the aggressive diaper environment and prevents it from being further stressed. The high panthenol content of 5% has a soothing effect and promotes the regeneration of stressed skin. HiPP Babysanft SOS Wound Protection thus helps quickly and reliably with irritated skin.

Can there be any incompatibilities?

In addition to the effect, HiPP attaches great importance to the best skin compatibility of its products. That is why HiPP Babysanft SOS Wundschutz can be used on highly sensitive skin and skin prone to neurodermatitis. The cream contains no perfume, essential oils, preservatives or PEG emulsifiers.

Important: However, local hypersensitivity reactions can never be excluded on irritated skin. Thus, in individual cases, a slight burning sensation may occur on particularly inflamed areas of skin.

How should HiPP Babysanft SOS Wound Protection be applied?

Apply a thin layer several times a day as required. As long as the skin is visibly irritated, it is recommended that it be applied at every diaper change. The cream is light and can be applied with the fingertips without pressure. It leaves a whitish protective film. 

If the redness does not subside after 2-3 days, please contact your pediatrician. Medical treatment may be necessary in this case.

How should the cream be stored and how long can I use it?

Please store the cream at room temperature (up to 25 °C). This will preserve its perfect quality. Occasionally, there may be slight oil precipitation, which does not affect the quality and effectiveness of the cream. Please do not use the cream after the best-before date on the bottom of the folding box.
